The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited was underway in digging tunnels for the ongoing project of Metro-III when they made a shocking discovery. The staff members while digging, found two Crude Bombs just one foot deep outside a Mumbai Central Railway station on Wednesday.
Once they were spotted, they immediately contacted a police constable.
To the relief of the workers and the metro project runners, the bombs were diffused by the Mumbai police’s Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).
“Railways BDDS squad along with Mumbai Police defused the bombs and have sent them to the forensic laboratory.” Said AK Singh, Chief Security Commissioner, Western Railway.
The police suspect that the bombs might be old as they were found buried deep in the ground.
“We got a call about two bombs encased in tin containers found at a Metro site. We suspect it to be explosive-type substance but it can be confirmed only after forensic tests. We have sent them to the laboratory in Kalina to check if they are old or new,” said a police official from Nagpada police station.
